Communications Intern - Holiday 2018


Brooklyn Irish Dance Company is looking for a creative, hardworking individual that has a strong interest in publicity and business development, especially in the performing arts or non-profit sector. Must be able to work in the US.

Brooklyn Irish Dance Company’s mission is to keep Irish dance moving forward. Our company was formed to give Irish dancers the creative means to perform new and exciting works, and to educate and inspire our community with the power and passion of Irish dance.

Based in Brooklyn and embodying the hustle, culture and drive of our forefathers, we create new works as a collaborative community of dancers to break traditional boundaries and engage audiences with innovative and accessible performances of Irish dance and music. Our choreography focuses on utilizing traditional Irish dance with a contemporary aesthetic to showcase our company dancers’ athleticism, technique, and passion.


The successful candidate for this internship will have had some schooling in PR, marketing or communications. Excellent writing ability is a key competency in this internship. Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite are required as is a general proficiency with computers. Candidates should be savvy with online media and social media platforms. In addition, the successful candidate should be creative, hardworking and have the ability to work independently

Ideal candidates must be dedicated, detail-oriented and eager to assist the company’s overall operations. This is a great position for someone with a strong desire to learn the inner-workings of a start up and get hands on pr experience.


This role reports directly to the founders of the company. Responsibilities include:

  • Social Media coverage on Instagram, Facebook, and other outlets

  • Engage with similar social media channels and build branding relationships

  • Assist with Writing, editing press releases and press pitches

  • Research niche media for outreach

  • Coordinate materials for any media requests

  • Liaise with credentialed press to ensure their press coverage needs are met

  • Support the team with their day-to-day needs as assigned throughout the entirety of the internship

  • Research and Outreach to possible sponsors of the event

  • Coordinate with board members

  • Assist with Researching and drafting grant proposals


Must be available to work onsite Monday, December 17 and Tuesday, December 18 in Manhattan. All other work will be done remotely during normal business hours - candidate should expect to be available to work 3-4 hours up to three days a week.

COMPENSATION: College Credit and Free Irish Dance Classes


• This is a seasonal internship, beginning November 26th and ending December 20th.
